FAKEMON – Mega Gigualla

Mega Evolution of the Water-type Starter:
Of all the gameplay mechanics that Pokémon games have offered in the last four generations, my favorite is Mega Evolution (soon to return in the next game, Pokemon Legends Z-A).
So, wanting to try my hand at Mega design, I decided to start with my trio of Starters, all with the common theme of "movie monsters."

For the Water-type, I chose to represent the Kaiju, those giant monsters from Japanese movies called "kaijū eiga". As a model, I was obviously inspired by the most famous of all, Godzilla. For the Mega Evolution, I continued to draw inspiration from the King of the Monsters, but where the basic form was more inspired by the 1954 Godzilla, the Mega Evolution took on features of the more modern Godzilla, giving it a more massive appearance, wider legs, and a fighter-like design (partly as a reference to Toho's "Godzilla: The Series").
When designing the basic form, I was inspired by an amphibious animal, the marine iguana. I maintained this inspiration by incorporating features of this reptile, such as the pointed scales that appear on the nose and forehead of older males.

For the Shiny, I took the colors of the original Shiny, which was inspired by a more colorful variation of the marine iguana (a kind of Shiny in the real world), and mixed it with the colors of several Godzilla representations! I thought the result would be very dark, but in the end, the light colors were accentuated (keeping the original idea while decreasing the saturation).
