Scastal is an equatorial archipelago near the continent of Sanipse. Originating from intense volcanic activity, the island is known for its jungles, its drier landscapes, and its immense mangroves that insinuate themselves deep inland.
The endemic fauna combines the familiar with the strange, a unique and fascinating character to observe or study.

Here are some species found near beaches and the seashore:
1) Beach Lutter (locally: LUTRE DI PLAJ) [95-150 cm]: Feeds mainly on crabs and shellfish, but also hunts small fish. It is mainly found on the north and west coasts of Scastal.
2) Longfoot Clamsel (CLAMSEL PYÉLONG) [18-20 cm]: Burrowing bivalve with a long siphon and a very muscular foot, helping it to dig into the sand. Edible and sold by weight in markets.
3) Dragonclaw Crab (KRAB PINS-DRAGON) [4-7 cm]: It digs its burrow on the border between the beach and the mangrove. Recognizable by its enlarged and ornate claw to attract females and repel predators.
4) Banded lizard-iral (IRAL-LÉZAR A BAND) [65 cm]: Small insectivorous wyvern that lives in coastal shrubs. Its wings serve as camouflage, making it resemble a group of epiphytic plants in the region.
5) Traveler kerga (KERGAP VWAYAJER) [60-75 cm]: Originally a non-native marine wyvern, a colony has established itself permanently near a migration route. It fishes on the high seas.
6) Scastal's corphalax (CORFALAX DI SCASTAL) [80-100 cm]: Seabird found in the archipelago as far as the coast of Sanipse. Generally hunts fish in shallow water but is capable of diving up to 20 m.
7) Kiagull (KIAELAN) [52-60 cm]: Species of large-billed gull, widespread throughout the world. This species regularly migrates from temperate zones to equatorial regions to nest.
8) Small felictus (PTI FELIKTUS) [36-52 cm]: The smallest drake (mammalosauria) in the archipelago. An opportunistic and solitary nocturnal hunter, it uses beaches to facilitate its movements within its territory.
