Like every generation of Pokémon, this one has Legendary Pokémon. These particular and powerful Pokémon are, most often, grouped in Trios and generally associated with a myth concerning the creation or organization of the world.
Also wanting to create a trio of Legendary, I racked my brains to find a logical theme with myths or an aspect of our reality… after several attempts at a trio, I settled on the theme of Sounds!
The first Legendary is SHRILGARM, representing Ultrasounds (sounds that are too high-pitched and high-frequency).
Its Design borrows from the Wolf, and more particularly from the Wolves of Scandinavian legends, the Managarm, but also from various folklore creatures such as land dragons. By the way, the blond color of its fur is a small reference to one of my first versions of the legendary, whose design was inspired by the Asgardian God: Thor.
In addition to its mythological inspirations, its steel body is topped with a large tuning fork attached to its head. Tuning forks are a common element of the 2 legendary Pokémon associated with sound. SHRILGARM being the holder of the Acute Tuning Fork, associating it with Ultrasound.
Its Shiny reverses the blue color of its tuning fork for red. Its body also takes on a more brownish and orange tint, a bit as if its metal body had rusted. But normally, the Shiny of a legendary is not really visible, due to the mechanics of the Shiny-Lock.
