Like every generation of Pokémon, this one has Legendary Pokémon. These particular and powerful Pokémon are, most often, grouped in Trios and generally associated with a myth concerning the creation or organization of the world.
Also wanting to create a trio of Legendary, I racked my brains to find a logical theme with myths or an aspect of our reality… after several attempts at a trio, I settled on the theme of Sounds!
The second Legendary is BASSORM, representing Infrasound (sounds that are too low and low frequencies).
Its Design borrows from the Snake and the Moray Eel, a somewhat original attempt to give it the air of Jörmungandr, this sea serpent from Scandinavian myths. But, by its golden color, it is also a small reference to one of my first versions of the legendary, whose design was inspired by the Norse God: Loki.
In addition to its mythological inspirations, its body ends with a sharp tuning fork attached to its tail. Tuning forks are a common element of the 2 legendary Pokémon associated with sound. BASSORM being the holder of the Grave Tuning Fork, associating it with Infrasound.
Its Shiny reverses the pinkish-red color of its tuning fork for blue-turquoise. Its body also takes on a more orange tint and its plumes of smoke turn greenish. But normally, the Shiny of a legendary is not really visible, due to the mechanics of the Shiny-Lock.
