On 18-Scorpii-4, the animals forming the major part of the megafauna are composed of vertebrates bearing physical traits that are associated with arthropods: chitin shells, articulated antennae, thorax and abdomen, etc ...
As the classification of these animals is not complete, we have classified them into taxa temporarily named by codes:
Codes ending with "DE" designate Decapod Animals
The "O" codes designate Octopods animals
And the codes "He" designate Hexapod animals
The Decapods are a minority class in the animal kingdom. They take the form of animals with elongated thoraxes, reminiscent of a fusion between the skeleton of a snake and the structure of myriapods. Their legs are often multifunctional, but some species present pairs of legs adapted to their lifestyle, for example, legs for digging or for capturing prey.
The Octopods form the second major class of the animal kingdom on the planet. Their anatomy often gives them reptilian or dinosaur features, but some families have features that may be reminiscent of certain mammals, such as ungulates. Their body is characterized by the fact that the cranial block is supported by an often short or poorly articulated neck, favoring the protection of this one but limiting its movements.
Finally, the Hexapods, which form the major class of the animal kingdom, have many forms, and many adaptations! Among this group, we find sometimes very different morphologies, such as pseudo-birds, pseudo-turtles, but also many features common to our mammals. It is also in this group that we find a very particular order in which the beings of the "sentient" people of this planet are classified.
